An update is released for Nav N Go iGO 8

An update (R1 patch) is released on 29th August 2008 for Nav N Go iGO 8 users, which fixes most known problems, updates several free contents, and almost doubles the number of compatible PDA devices.

The update is available free of charge through Content Manager update PC-tool. Those who bought their Nav N Go iGO 8 in a retail shop, can install Content Manager from the DVD that came with the SD card, while those, who upgraded from the iGO My way 2006 version through my.navngo.com site already downloaded and used it for the previous upgrade.

Downloading and installing this update with the Content Manager does not require product registration or any license or activation key.

Content Manager

The update provides fixes for most knows software problems and others optimizing the softwares performance and speed. It also offers many free content updates, including languages, schemas and voices. Support for 240x240, 320x320, 400x240 and 240x400 px screen resolution has also been added.

Problems fixed:
  • By changing distance units to feet the Poi search list is showing yards instead of feet.
  • If you tap quickly twice on the Today screen iGO starts twice.
  • German keyset does not contain all native German letters
  • Newer POI files were not used when they were inserted from SD card.
  • Newer maps were not loaded from secondary root directory.
  • GX driver problem
  • Automatic timezone sync sets wrong timezone in OS (a.k.a. Minsk error)
  • Handling timezone names if longer than 32 chars
  • Don't recalculate if the same TMC message arrives with a bigger TTL.
  • Setting power management to "Use Device Settings" doesn't work
  • Choose fresh content from SD card, use timestamp in case when content unique IDs match
  • Random crashes
  • Summary for saved routes shows km rather than selected regional settings
  • Route sorting problem
  • In case of address search, space and special characters didn't work
  • Smart zoom problems

Map updates for Nav N Go iGO 8

Map updates for Nav N Go iGO 8 are provided through our new update and service web portal: www.naviextras.com. The site is currently in public beta test.

Map updates - naviextras.com Map and 3D updates will be soon available on the www.naviextras.com site. The updates will be downloaded and installed to the SD card with the next version of the current Content Manager PC-tool, called Naviextras Toolbox.

Naviextras.com portal will support both updating your current maps and POIs, and adding extra maps to your navigation software in order to extend its coverage.
 
Please note, that www.naviextras.com site is currently in public beta test, so updates are still not available. We encourage you to create a user account and subcribe to our newsletter so that we can inform you as soon as map updates become available.

This is not the first time map updates have been released for the SD memory card product, and once again registered users can get the updates for 12 Eastern European countries for free.
