26-28 July, Belgium, Spa– FrancorchampsWarm Up Racing Team lined up for the start on one of the toughest race courses in the 7th and 8th races of the Ferrari Challenge Championship. The team made a brilliant start in the Ferrari F430 Challenge race car, shining in the blue colours of its main sponsor, Nav N Go Kft.
On the first practice day of the Ferrari Challenge Europe Championship held in Francorchamps, Sándor Jánosi was placed 6th among the 38 drivers. Due to a driving mistake made on the first qualifying day, Jánosi ended up in 11th position when the race began on Friday.
He got off to a good start and made it to 7th position, which he kept until the other driver in the team took over. As the team switched drivers, Jánosi indicated that he had been having problems with the steering. His team mate, Gábor Grigalek, fought heroically to keep his position. However, only three laps to the finish, he was no longer able control the car and ran into the tyre wall.
The Nav N Go sponsored team had to mobilise all its resources to repair the steering system and the damaged chassis by the following morning. Gábor Grigalek had barely started the warm-up laps on the Saturday race day when the wheel bearing failed again and the team had to withdraw from the race even before the starting pistol was fired.
Nav N Go and Ferrari have entered into partnership for the 2007 race season, during which the team and the Ferrari painted in the company image colours are touring the most famous race courses in Europe. Hopefully, the Warm Up team will have fewer technical difficulties and more luck at the Hockenheim race in late September, and will therefore be able to show what they are really capable of.
