This is the third year, that the Yacht Academy has organized its now traditional GPS navigation-based sailing race. The 7 amateur crews circumnavigated Croatian waters from their base on the island of Ugljan sailing via Biograd, Vodice and Sali and had to complete a number of activities, testing their skills along the way.

“One of the most exciting of these was a competition for points, where you had to sail through 20 positions with an accuracy of 0.02 nautical miles.The points had to be inserted on the map by first completing a test. It was a collection of questions selected from the material of the class 3 certificate test and the radio operator exam. Wrong answers were “rewarded” with point deductions. It was not apparentt until after the finish, how many good points the individual teams actually managed to sail through. I am proud to report that our crew was the best at navigation,” explained László Mitnyik, a member of the team sponsored by Nav N Go.

The race was more colourful with simulated real-life situations, such as a search and rescue exercise. The main purpose of the event was to reinforce the skills learnt at the Yacht Academy and support safe sailing, with the most accurate navigation possible.
