Nav N Go Launches Advanced 3D Navigation Software Nav N Go iGO 8 for North America at 2008 International CES
Nav N Go, the leading GPS navigation solution provider, today announces the launch of lifelike 3D navigation software, Nav N Go iGO 8, at 2008 International CES for North America. This will allow North American hardware manufacturers to embed the advanced 3D navigation software in their navigation devices.
The unique visualization engine of Nav N Go iGO 8 offers high-definition 3D navigation maps of terrain, road elevation, landmarks and buildings. It shows almost 13 miles in a single view on personal navigation devices (PNDs), smart phones and game consoles. Packaged with the powerful and advanced graphical engine for 3D and 2D modes, Nav N Go iGO 8, does not need any specific hardware requirements for installation. In Europe, Nav N Go iGO 8 is already available in the personal navigation devices Mio C620, Mio C620T (with Traffic Message Channel) and an entry-level device Mio C230. Beginning March 2008, Sony will sell its gaming console PlayStation®Portable with iGO My way 8 software in Europe. In the second quarter of 2008, V7 by Ingram Micro will launch a customized version of iGO My way 8 with their V7 GPS line of Portable Navigation Devices for North America. The product is also used to power the navigation capabilities of the new HP’s iPAQ 314 and 316 Travel Companion for Europe and HP iPAQ 310 Travel Companion in North America.
“The demand for 3D navigation software initiated by Internet satellite imagery is soaring in the international market. It is predicted that 90 to 95 percent European and 80 percent of North American devices will have some form of photo realism by 2012,” said Leon van de Pas, CEO of Nav N Go. “Therefore, most of our partners are gradually migrating to iGO My way 8 to expand their product offerings. Sensing the huge potential in the APAC region, we are venturing into many Asian countries like India and China with Nav N Go iGO 8 in the first quarter of 2008, as both the language support and map data are ready.”
Providing integrated multimedia experience, Nav N Go iGO 8 comes with built-in music and video player, preinstalled games, and travel guides. With an interface that is clear, intuitive and easy to use, the new Nav N Go iGO 8 has Normal mode for less experienced users and Expert mode for advanced ones. The software comes with text-to-speech capability that offers directions with real city, street and highway names.
Also known for its precise and affordable digital maps, Nav N Go iGO 8 covers more than 70 countries globally with navigable maps. The new format also supports exonyms, or non-native place name designations, giving users the ability to easily locate desired destinations even if the name is spelled in a foreign language. The software even supports non-Latin characters such as Arabic, Chinese, Greek, Hebrew, Japanese and Russian, and also comes pre-loaded with millions of advanced points of interest (POI).
